Return To "Normal"

Well here we are again, back to writing about writing. I’ve been back at home for about a week now and I started back in on the book on Monday. It took me till nearly 4:30 in the afternoon to realize it had been two months since I had written, not the one I had originally thought.

Monday was frustrating. Not only was I trying to return to a writing process I had been out of practice at for two months, but I was trying to get back into my usual routine as a whole. Needless to say it did not go smoothly. I was grumpy and mostly with myself, for not being able to jump head first back into something after a longer than wanted break. I had taken two weeks off in May for my eyes to rest because I had been straining them sitting in-front of my computer for 4-6 hours a day. That two weeks turned into two months and I’m not even quite sure how, other than that I left the county in that time as well. So Monday was rough.

Tuesday was better. Managed to add a mild but respectable amount to the word count and that alone was a confidence boost. Scrolling through the 70 pages of story and reading bits and pieces for continuity sake greatly helped me re-get a handle of the story and remember where I was going and what my characters were up to. So Tuesday was good.

Wednesday was Great. I was back up to my desired writing speed and added nearly 1,000 new words to the story. I found the flow again and was able to enjoy writing the story again and was happy to be hanging out with my characters. As per usual when I was done typing for the day I pulled out my note book and wrote out all the notes and thoughts I hadn’t gotten to that day. In my mini brainstorm/note taking session yesterday I had what feels like the final big puzzle piece come to me and now I can see how to tie up all the losses ends and tie the story together.

And now here we are on Thursday. Where I’d like nothing more than to get back into the book, but first I had to write this blog post and second I have a commitment to adhere to. So it’s likely I won’t get in more than an hour on the book today, and tomorrow is booked up too. However excitant sentiment I think I will be able to complete the first draft of my first book before the summer is out! With the first draft done the story will feel solidified and I’ll be able and excited to start share a bit more in detail what exactly this book is and what its about. In case you missed it before, it is fiction and daily unlike what I write here for the Blog.

Anyways, thanks for bearing with my travel induced emotional blogging of the last few weeks. I’m excited and feeling good to be diving back into the creativity of it all, this summer is shaping up to be a fun one! As always thanks for coming along on the jouncy and I’ll be back next week same time for another one! Have a great rest of your week! :)
