catching up

Well here 2024 is and we’re off to an interesting start.

I had been struggling with the keyboard on my laptop so I got myself a bluetooth one in hopes of persevering the life of my computer. So that’s a bit of change. Getting used to feel of the different keys. Honestly to be a bit of a sap, it feels like a childhood dream come true, it feels similar to a typewriter and I always wanted a typewriter as a kid. So you could say dreams come true in the unlikeliest of ways.

To be a little vague and a little on the noes, I’ve got boxes to pack, so my break between draft 2 and 3 will be a bit longer than I wanted. But in a few short weeks I’ll be set and ready to dive into draft 3 with a bit of feedback as well as a few new tools in my arsenal.

But speaking of writing, I finished editing right before Christmas and didn’t get the chance to tell you all about it, so here goes. Finishing draft 2 didn’t feel quite as exciting as draft 1. Could have just been because the holidays were more exciting at the time. But it did feel right, to finish the draft. Felt complete and like a content accomplishment, like I was always meant to end our there.

Editing is a whole other beast though, I must say. It took me a significant amount of time to get into the swing of things, and even longer to feel like I understood what I was doing. Having muscled through it now I feel that draft 3 will go a bit more smoothly. I’ve got a better handle on how my brain works while I’m editing and what brain space it takes up. Really I’d love to just dive back in right now but I’ve got a few other life things to get through first.

New years always feels a little off kilter to me. Sets me off in a funny way. Feel all charged up and ready to carry on with the great and powerful. Also want to crawl into a hibernation cave and hangout there for awhile. I’m happy to be slowly getting back into my routine, which is life saving on some level. I still just want to sleep in a lot though.

Its the funny thing about winter. I take winter pretty seriously, it’s become my favourite season I think. Maybe I’m not sure, seeing that in type is really weird. Fall has been the favourite for the last 5 years or so, but I love the stillness of winter. The steady fall of snow does something to my soul. Does something so calming to my heart. Can’t explain it beyond that. So winter is a funny little love of mine, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Welcome back to Time and Light Switch’s, I hope you enjoy your stay no matter how long or short. I hope you set out from here a little less broke than you came, and a little more at peace. The 2024 season has begun, and it’s going to be a good one, I can feel it.
